WEST ARTHUR WIND FARM
THE PROJECT
Lacour Energy are progressing feasibility studies for a potential wind farm development across the Shires of West Arthur and Wagin
The project's location in proximity to the Western Power high voltage network infrastructure in the nearby Collie, is a crucial advantage, minimising the amount of long and expensive powerlines to be built.
The West Arthur Wind Farm has been in development for over three years and is now more than halfway through its feasibility study. We are progressing studies for potential wind farm development of approximately 1000 MW capacity once finally constructed . The project would likely be progressed in stages to allow for the ongoing development of the power network in the region.
Current workstreams underway include:
Wind monitoring and wind energy modelling
Project definition development
Environmental surveys
Stakeholder engagement
Grid connection assessments
As the development process progresses, we will engage with all stakeholders in a manner consistent with industry practice to build an understanding of the project and any potential impacts as well as seek input on the development concept. Later in the development process, neighbours will be contacted first before engagement with council and the community on the proposed design will begin.
Timelines
The West Arthur Project has been under investigation since 2022. We are currently in the planning and approvals stage of development.

If the feasibility is successful, construction is planned to commence in 2027, with the construction period for the project of around 24 months. The wind farm is targeted to supply electricity into the Western Power network before 2030.
